It started with the idea to be involved in the education nation, several people gathered and decided to have the responsibility in building the future of nation in 1979. They formed an education institution namely "Yayasan Dharmaputra." The objective of STMIK Dharma Putra has to be in line with the main purpose that is: to equip the graduates in advancing human and data resources in Tangerang. Kindergarten (Taman Kanak-Kanak) was a stepping stone progressing the idea to establish other units such as Junior High School (Sekolah Lanjutan Tingkat Pertama), Senior High School (Sekolah Menengah Umum) and STMIK (Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer) respectively. Therefore, the effort to improve the nation quality in education has been put.

       To meet the future demand of professionals in Information Technology that is computer, STMIK Dharma Putra was officially opened on March 13th 2003. It was based on the decree No: 29 / D / 0 / 2003 which is expected to provide well-rounded computing professionals with sufficient knowledge of Computer Science and Information Technology needed in the fast-growing user community. Moreover, these skills and knowledge obtained in the program in computing will assist them to expand their career options. STMIK Dharma Putra allows the students to gain competences so that the graduates are able to participate in supporting the success of national development, especially the human resources in Tangerang. STMIK Dharma Putra has 2 (two) study programs:
